End of day 1

We've had a great day at mintfest with the Sonic Landscape installation. Loads of people have enjoyed our sounds in the brilliant sunshine in Abbot Hall Park. We're back tomorrow for more of the same if you would like to come along and hear our work and talk to the artists.

We all really enjoyed Mintfest with so many amazing acts - here's a picture of Shaun joining in with one......

I HAVE BEEN AROUND KENDAL TODAY IT WAS FUN AND I SAW THE DANCERS THE JUGGELERS AND THE MIMEISTS. I ALSO HELPED TO MAKE THE SOUND TRAIL AND I HEARD MYSELF SAY HAPPY.

First impressions

When I was back at the Lantern House, I didn't quite understand how it was all going to work. When I got here and started hearing the sounds coming out of the trees, it all started to make sense. I think that it's set up very well, and after going round and talking to the public, it's interesting to see how many are interested and how many aren't. More people seem to be interested though than those that are not, which is good.

I think the installation sounds good. I have really enjoyed hearing my work as part of the finished piece. It's been great to have the public hearing what we created over the summer.

we have arrived

we have had a dry run of the installation at Abbot Hall Park for Sonic Landscape at Mintfest - trying out our super wi-fi dongle sat on the grass - all sounding great and we're now waiting to start the installation at 12 o'clock :-)

The entire project

I have enjoyed this project lots mainly by working on makind and editing sound around the latern house by using a sound recorder, audacity.

I would definately do more projects like this at the lantern house so hopefully I will.

Wednesday 4th August 2010 - Today I've spent most of the day arranging music on 'Garageband'. I finished off the song which I started yesterday, which was a combination of different emotions, and started a new one, which had a sad/depressed feel to it. I enjoyed making both peices of music, and I think that the project is brilliant. I've really enjoyed it.

this is nathanclawfish or if you dont have an x box 360 its just nathan im posting my first blog ever so im going to make it short i did a breif 7.30 min log remix of only 15 seconds of film it is epicer then a ridly caught in a blender it is going to be at mint fest go there the gods command it bu ha ha har

Today was personally terrible because i kept receiving false accusations, like jumping in the lifts and screaming.

I have had much better days throughout the week but none of them were as bad of these, I am looking forward to the mint festival.

the only thing i have enjoyed today was the painting I liked doing the different emotion because you can use a variety of colours like black, blue, pink, purple, yellow and green.

You can also paint what you are feeling as well.

I don't think I have been naughty today i think i have been better that usuall.

last day at lanternhouse

at the last day at lantern house was the best because now fern has been telling us how fun the mint fest is going to be,

i am going to miss fern, and nick as nick was funny and fern was polite and kind,

i met lots of new friends and i have been looking forward more excited for lunch times

shaun was like the boss always mean but mostly ok the best worker that i was with was nick because he always liked me comment on his big head he laughed all the time at me he is nice

kerry and lisa were there lisa was expressing her feelings on splats of paint and in furry balls the most of the time when i was there i was making audio with fern and nick it was cool on the laptops,

i am going to use most of this evidence for my arts award which i have been making a head start with connexions and some with a bit of barbara.

My Time At LanternHouse

I have enjoyed all of the activities I have taken part in over the last few weeks. I am happy that I have had the chance to show others a different side of me that no-one has really seen before.
Working with Fern, Shaun, Barbara, Lisa, Kerry and Nick has been a lot of fun. I feel that I have grown as an artist and got a lot more confident with sharing my music and ideas with other people, I hope this continues through-out my last 2 years of school. I am greatful to of had this opportunity- if I didn't I proberly would've been stuck at home for the entire summer. I am excited to complete my Asdan award and earn an activities award. Next year I hope to do some similar projects like this.

Talking Emotions

Here are the talking emotions we are going to use:

Love is confusing like a maze only when you are in the middle you can be truly happy

Depression is like a thousand beatings

Sadness is like realising your faveourite thing is broken noooooooo!

Excited is like unwrapping your first christmas present

Scared is like staring into the eyes of a banshee and see your worst fear come to life

Calm is taking a nice strole through a meadow on a nice summers day

Happy is being with my family

Angry is when somebody annoys you

Lanternhouse Project

I have enjoyed doing the activities here, we have got our own sketch books which can count towards our Asdan/COPE or Duke of Edinburgh awards. I have done a lot of things in my sketch book. I have drawn my best friends in various outfits designed by me. With each picture- I have written a little bit about them and their full name. I have gone on to describe who my main inspirations are for writing my own music. I have also written some lyrics from the Disney Original movie: Camp Rock, A Little Bit Longer- written by Nick Jonas about his experiences of living with Type 1 Diabetes and 7:05 from the Jonas Brothers first album- It's About Time. I hope one day to get a music internship from Hollywood Records and work for the Disney Channel in the near future.

a week away

the first two weeks for me were good but for the third week i wasn't here because i was on holiday but ii am now here for the last week and i am enjoying my self. If you can make it its on 5th and the 4th of september at kendal abbots hall park. all day long

Thursday - Session 4

Hi Everyone,

Today's been a really good day for the Sonic Landscapes group and we've created loads of exciting and fun work.


We've asked everyone who's been here today to summarise what they've been up to:

David
Today I have been recording and editing sound for the calm emotion and sorted out some of the photos for the blog. My favourite part was editing the sound.

Matthew
I've enjoyed a lot of the activities that we've done so far. I think what I've enjoyed the most is making music on a program called Audacity.
We were recording a variety of different sounds, such as: dragging a mobile phone along a radiator, clapping our hands and hitting the table.
I also enjoyed doing the painting. I did one about "happiness" and on it I wrote the famous Ken Dodd quote "Happiness, the greatest gift that we possess".

Jemma
I have enjoyed many thing we have done. I think the thing I have enjoyed the most is painting the different emotions. I have made some interesting friendships.
We are having so much fun, this project has let us express ourselves in a way I think words can't. It has also given me the confidence to perform for other people and the confidence to believe in myself. Also to follow my dreams, and not give up and share my talent.

Caitlin
When i first ever visted Lanternhouse, I thought that I had fun and I met lots of new people.
The first day we played games to meet others, I really enjoyed meeting Nick, Claire, Shaun and Fern.
With Connexions I am visiting Lanternhouse. This week we have been experimenting with sound/audio and also photography. All the work we produce gets updated on to the Net, we post blogs and comment on the links.
I think going to Lanternhouse has been a blast but mostly I like creating audio with Fern and Nick, because there is so much you can do when you edit the sound and can also include background tunes.

The best thing about today was that I was happy as my friend Kim gave me red, brown and purple sweets. I painted pictures about my emotions - the best thing I made was my cup out of clay.

I have been painting emotions: Sad, Happy, Love, Anger, Scared.
Everything was good but the best thing was when I made a smiley face out of clay.

Day Three - Painting

Today was a chance for us to express ourselves and for me to help other people with their creativity.

The best bit about today was the painting because I enjoyed it very much and I got to know people a little bit more.

Different emotions

Today we split into 2 differnt groups. My group did painting, through this we have portrayed many different emotions. I really enjoyed this with Elisha, Lisa, Kim,Anthony,Caitlin,Kerry, Karen and Fern. As well as using the brushes- Fern allowed us to use our creative side of ourselves. We used our hands and splattering paint- you can do this by getting a dollop of bright coloured paint, hold the paint brush towards your paper and simply flick the paint across the page. Whilst we were doing this the other group were creating their own thing through different sounds.
I hope we can do this again as it was so much fun. But instead of emotions we could just express who we are through the paints we use.

here is a piece of audio that i created, this represents happiness.

the sound that are made are water walking on stones and a simple coin spinning that all added creates a soothing mellow calm sound

We've ben taking photos at the Lanternhouse. I took this one in the garden, I think the warm greens and water drops portray a calm feeling.

I think the Lanternhouse is pretty cool. I found these leaves in the rainy garden , the raindrops caught my eye. The image makes me feel calm

I have been taking pictures of various things to show different emotions such as Love,Happiness and Sadness. I have taken a picture of bright flowers to represent love. For Sad i have taken a picture of a dead flower.

My Favourite picture is of a Ladybird on a my hand because it can represent love.
